FAQ

Straight answers about treatment. If yours is not here, ask Andrew.

Do you water blast?

Not with high pressure. We treat first, so the growth dies at the root, then come back 2 to 3 weeks later for a gentle, low-pressure wash on walls, paths and driveways. Roofs get treatment only, so nothing hits your tiles or iron at force.

Can you do other jobs around the outside of my home?

Yes, just ask. House washing, gutters and gardens are part of what we do, and if it is something we do not do, Andrew knows people who do and will organise it for you.

How long until I see a difference?

Usually within the first few weeks the growth turns brown or orange as it dies. Rain and wind then carry it away. Most surfaces are clean by about three months and fully clear by about six, depending on the weather.

Why does it take longer than water blasting?

Blasting removes what you can see in an afternoon and leaves the roots to grow back. Treatment kills the growth itself and lets the weather clear it, which is slower to look finished and slower to come back.

How often does a surface need treating?

It depends on shade, moisture and exposure. For high-risk areas a yearly treatment is recommended, and Andrew runs an annual programme so your roof or building is treated at the same time every year.

What products do you use?

Andrew only uses environmentally friendly products. He will talk you through the product and any precautions for your property, such as gardens, pets or water tanks, when he quotes.

Do you work from the ground?

As much as we can. Most treatment is applied from the ground. When a ladder is the right tool, it is secured properly first and the time up it is kept to a minimum.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

Yes. Motels, rest homes, schools, farms and business premises. Andrew is NZQA construction health and safety accredited, and commercial work can be done outside business hours if that suits you.

Where do you work?

Christchurch and across Canterbury. If you are further out, get in touch and ask.
